Welcome to A Minute with CAISSA, where we’re going to talk about the Fed’s AI and energy dilemma.
The Federal Reserve faces a really challenging balancing act.
Higher interest rates can really slow borrowing and spending, but they can’t directly fix everything that causes inflation. For example, energy prices can rise because of supply disruptions, while investment in AI infrastructure may continue even when financing becomes more and more expensive.
So that means in some parts of this economy, they can remain very, very strong, while other areas in the economy can feel the pressure of these higher rates.
For investors, trying to predict what the Fed’s next move is not the foundation of a durable strategy. Instead, it’s really important for us to understand how interest rate changes affect our bonds, the businesses we own, and all the cash needs we have. So at CAISSA, we emphasize thoughtful diversification. The appropriate liquidity needs for your account and long-term allocations designed to navigate all these different economic environments.
