SPOTLIGHT Interview

What is your role at CAISSA? (i.e. How would you explain your job to someone new to financial services?)

I am a Wealth Advisor and work with clients on all financial aspects of their lives to help them achieve their goals.

What gets you excited about your work?

I am passionate about being able to help others. I love coming to work and helping a client feel confident that they are on the right path, or educating them on something they need help with. I love that I work with amazing and smart people and that I learn from them every day.

Why financial services?

As a kid my mom would have me keep track of how much the groceries in the cart added up to so that we made sure we stayed within budget. This started me on a path of liking to work with numbers, budgeting, planning and pretty much all aspects of financial planning.

Where did you attend college and what was your major/minor?

I graduated from Southern New Hampshire University and my major was Finance with a concentration in financial planning. I also have an associate’s degree in Business Management.

What is the last test or next test you are working on?

The last test I took was the CFP® board exam (CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™).

How do you pass the time when you’re not in the office?

I like to try and get some form of exercise every day. But most of my free time is spent with my family and friends. I have a 19 and a 15 year old who keep me very busy.

What’s a fun fact about you many people may not know?

I have started more than one small kitchen fire. Never anything serious, thank goodness!

Where’s your favorite place in the world?

Anywhere near the water is my happy place. Spending the day playing in the lake or ocean and the evening watching the sunset; falling asleep to the sounds of the waves.

If you could meet anyone in the world, dead or alive, who would it be and why?

I would like to meet my great-grandfather Alexander and my great-grandmother Martha. They died when my grandpa was 17. I would love to hear about their lives and more about that side of my family.

What’s your favorite indoor/outdoor activity?

With two active kids, my favorite things to do is watching their activities. Over the years this has involved countless hours watching swim meets, dance competitions, plays, recitals, ice skating shows, basketball games, bowling touraments and lacrosse games and tournaments that take us all over the country over the past couple of years.

What was your first or weirdest job?

My first job outside of babysitting was working at a local bakery. I started at 4:30-5:00 in the morning almost every weekend. After that I worked for many years at a portrait studio taking photos of kids and families.

What is the first concert you attended?

As a kid we would watch the WhiteSidewalls and Kid Jonny Lang. My first concert as a teenager was a heavy metal band at First Avenue with my friends.

What is your greatest fear?

Something bad happening to one of my kids or loved ones. But I also have an irrational fear of mice.

You are being taken to dinner. Do you go classic American or fine dining? And where?

I really enjoy trying new places and love to share so I have a chance to try more foods. Fine dining is great for a celebration or special occasion, but I find it a real treat when I find a hidden gem hole in the wall kind of place with delicious food and great service. Aimee from our office told me about Kings’ in Miesville, MN which had the best burger I have had in a long time!

What tv show/movie are you ashamed to admit you love?

I love anything on the Hallmark channel, the Coat of Many Colors is one of my favorite movies to watch around Christmas. I also can’t miss an episode of The Voice.
